The Nimrod Automan Camera was manufactured by the Thornton-Pickard Manufacturing Compnay in circa 1910. Designed as a self erecting camera, triggered upon the touch of a button located on top of the camera. The camera sets to infinity focus and is ready to shoot. Constructed of mahogany wood with waterproof morocco grained leatherette covering and leather bellows. In addition all Nimrod Automan cameras have rack and pinion focusing and rising, falling front, reversible back, spring focusing hood with ground glass screen, countersunck brilliant finder with sky shade, engraved focusing scale with pointer, and tripod socket. The Nimrod automan was available in quarter plate, 5 x 4 inch and 9 x 12 cm sizes and made in three styles:
No. 1 Nimrod Automan - Rectoplanat lens
No. 2 Nimrod Automan - Double extension baseboard and bellows with two rack and pinion movements and improved Thornton-Pickard sunbeam shutter. Illustrated to right.
No. 3 Nimrod Automan - Model Deluxe. Double extension baseboard and bellows with two rack and pinion movements and central universal swing back, extra back extension. Covered in leather not leatherette, and fitted with a Beck Rapid Symmetrical lens F8.
