  Ruby Camera

The Ruby Camera was manufactured by the Thornton-Pickard Mfg. Co. from 1899 to 1905. This was one of the original high quality main-stay cameras of the Thornton-Pickard camera line. Designed as a compact folding tripod or hand camera that was light, strong and rigid. the attached T-P shutter forms part of the camera and does not need to be removed when folding. I is fitted with a Thornton-Pickard Rapid Aplanat brass barreled lens with a rising front. Double extension from both front and back by rack and pinion gearing, so that the back and pushed up to the front for wide angle work. The front and bellows are wide enough to accommodate stereo lenses. The tripod turntable is built into the base of the camera. The front will lock into place by means of a patent spring stretcher at right angles to the baseboard. It was available in Quarter plate, half plate and whole plate.
