The Sphynx hand camera was manufactured by the E & T Underwood company in circa 1898. Constructed of seasoned wood and covered in morocco leather. The Sphynx was a magazine hand camera capable of processing twelve quarter plate sized glass plates housed in sheaths. It was fitted with the highest quality Euryscope lens with iris diaphragms, and time and instantaneous roller blind shutter working between lenses. This camera features horizontal and vertical finders, focusing front from 5 ft. to infinity. The camera measures 9 3/4 x 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 inches and was originally priced at £3 15s.
