The Magazine Cyclone No. 4 camera was manufactured by the Western Camera Manufacturing Company from 1897 to 1899. The Magazine Cyclone No. 4 was an improvement over the original cyclone camera.It was advertised as being able to capture twelve pictures in twelve seconds. The No. 4 was capable of taking twelve quarter plate or 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch sized exposures on glass plates. It was fitted with a universal combination achromatic meniscus lens which consisted of a positive crown glass lens combined with a negative flint glass lens, corrected for actinic light. The shutter was a always set Western Camera Mfg. automatic time and instantaneous shutter, with a detachable bulb release and three diaphragms. A register provided a the number of exposed plates working automatically. The magazine was constructed out of aluminum for light weight. It was loaded through the hinged door in the rear of the camera and unloaded from the hinged door at the bottom. The magazine operated by a half turn of the button on top of the camera, dropping the exposed plate and leaving the next ready for exposure. The No. 4 was originally priced at $8.00.
