  Dallmeyer Hand Camera


The Dallmeyer Hand Camera was manufactured by J.H. Dallmeyer, Ltd. from approximately 1894 to 1903. Designed as a simple and practical camera for all around use. It was fitted with a Dallmeyer Rapid Rectillinear lens or a No.2 Stigmatic. with a built-in shutter mounted on the inside front cover. It was constructed of a wood body and covered in black leather. It was capable of capturing glass plate exposures 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch, quarter plate size. The later models featured a light weight dark slide that opened in book-form via a small lever. Features included a rising, falling and cross movement front , a removable view finder mountable for vertical or horizontal photos and a spirit level. Priced from £7 2s 6d to £5 15s 0d in 1898.
