  Perfex Forty-Four

The Perfex Forty-Four was manufactured by the Candid Camera Corporation of America company from 1939 to 1940. The Forty-Four was a departure in construction from the original Perfex. Instead of plastic, the body was made of die cast aluminum covered in black leather and chrome trim, resembling more of the upscale cameras like the Leica. Either 18 or 36 exposure count, standard 35mm roll film could be used. It featured a cloth focal plane shutter providing speeds from one to 1/250th of a second and a Graf Perfex Anastigmat lens. It also offered numerous other features including a built-in exposure meter step wedge, a built-in rangefinder, a special slow speed shutter adjustment for sppeds to 1 second, focusing ring operates the range finder and automatically focuses lens, accessory flash clip. Available with a F3.5 lens priced at $37.50 and an F2.8 lens priced at $47.50.
