The Carlton hand Camera was manufactured by the London Stereoscopic & Company Ltd in circa 1898. The camera box was constructed of mahogany, covered in leather and all working parts made of metal. It was fitted with a Black Band Radpid Rectilinear lens with revolving diaphragm. The shutter was an improved version with a speed indicator providing settings from one second to 1/100th of a second. The Carlton was made in three sizes, a quarter plate priced at £8 8s; a 5 x 4 inch size priced at £10 10s; and a half plate size priced at £15 15s.
