  Rouch's Excelsior Hand Camera


The Patent Excelsior Hand Camera was manufactured by W.W. Rouch & Co. of London England in circa 1893. It was introduced to allow for wide or narrow angle lenses to be used in a compact hand camera. This camera featured the Eureka patented changing back with daylihgt loading bag, a time and instantaneous shutter, rack work adjustment, double rising front, brilliant finders, and can be fitted with a swing-back movement. The Patent Excelsior Hand Camera was made in two sizes and sold with two lenses. The 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch quarter plate sold for £12 12s and the 5 x 4 inch size sold for £14 14s.
