In 1909 Wilhelm Kurbi and Carl Niggeloh founded a photographic manufacturing company in Barmen-Rittershausen, Germany. In 1911 they opened a fabrication factory in Radevormwald to mainly produce tripods. By 1935, their camera manufacturing had started and the Bilora line proved to be very successful untill manufacturing stopped in 1975.
