The Farringdon or Clydesdale Camera Set was manufactured by Spratt Brothers in circa 1895. It was sold through a few retailers like Barclay & Sons of London who named the camera after the street on which there shop was located Farringdon. Several collectors have identified this camera as "The Clydesdale Set", but the retailer who named is unknown to this author. The only making on the camera is a label with the word patent on the front. It was identified by patent 3634/1885 to be from the wholesale firm of the Spratt Brothers. It is a quarter plate camera constructed of polished mahogany with a black bellows. Fitted with a simple lens with a rotary diaphragm. It is small and portable. It features a unique locking mechanism on the front standard for locking the bellows extension in focus. It was priced at a guinea, or approximately 21 shillings.
