Pioneer photographer William Runicles was born in approximately 1812 in Ebbingham, Norfolk England. He was married to Lydia Runicles.
In 1840 Wm. Runicles was one of the first pioneering photographers to enter into this new business in Eton, Buckinghamshire, England, where he resided.
Wm. Runicles is credited as being the first publisher of a series of views. A branch of work known in the 1840's as "Public Photography". The Prince consort was one of his early patrons.
In 1863, Wm. Runicles was listed a a print seller, photographer and picture frame maker, on High street. He remained a professional photographer until 1881.
William Runicles died on January 4th, 1884 at Windsor.
