The Ruby de Luxe Reflex Camera was manufactured by the Thornton-Pickard Manufacturing Company in circa 1923. The camera was constructed of mahogany throughout, covered in fine seal-grained leather with all metal fittings black anodized, enameled or plated. The lens box and camera back is made of black ebonized wood. It was fitted with a Ruby self capping time and instantaneous, Ruby focal plane shutter with auto stop and universal shutter adjustment. The focal plane shutter was capable of achieving exposure speeds from 1/10 to to 1/1000 of a second. An optional T-P patented time exposure valve provided spped settings of 1/4, 1/2, 1, 2, and 3 seconds shutter speed. Fitted with a wide variety of lens. Available in many sizes including 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inch, 4 1/4 x 3 1/4 inches quarter plate, 9 x 12 cm, 9 x 14cm and 10 x 15 cm. Original prices for the camera only (no lens) ranged from £11 11s 0d to £19 18s 6d.
