  Ruby Roll Film No. 3a Camera

The Ruby Roll Film No. 3a Camera was manufactured by the Thornton-Pickard company in circa 1926. This camera was capable of capturing large exposures 5 1/2 inch by 3 1/4 inch in size. The body was constructed of thoroughly seasoned wood and metal. It was covered in seal grained leather. The back was made of metal and was fitted with register springs and a ruby window. The exposed hardware were finished with black enamel or nickel plate. It featured a reversible brilliant finder, an engraved focusing scale with infinity catch, a hinged easy loading spool arms, leather handle and two tripod socket. Various lens options were available. It was able to be fitted with a single achromatic or a Rapid rectilinear f8 mounted in an Everset instantaneous shutter providing exposure speeds of 1/25, 1/50 and 1/100th of a second. It was also able to be fitted with a Ruby Anastigmat f7.7 or a Ruby Anastigmat f6.3 lens mounted in a shutter providing time, bulb, and instantaneous exposures of 1/5, 1/10, 1/25/ 1/50 and 1/100 of a second. It was priced from £5 to £8.
