The Model A, Plateless, DAYDARK Camera was manufactured by the Daydark Specialty Company of St. Louis Mo. in circa 1907. The model A was a small professional street camera that was capable of capturing two x three inch sized photographs. The camera was used on sidewalks and tourist locations. The operation included aligning the subject, taking a snap shot and then inserting your hand into the camera to move the exposed image to a tank of developing solution. Within 1 minute the photograph would be develed to be taken out rinsed and provided to the customer. The camera box was made of well seasoned basswood covered with fine grain leatherette, a solid leather carying handle and nickel plated straps. The card holder is die-made and holds up to 50 cards. It featured an instantaneous shutter with a six inch release cord, a single achromatic lens and a pop up direct view finder. The camera originally sold for $7.50. Tripod, cards and photographic solutions were extra or it was also available as a complete outfit for $10.90.
