The B-W DAYDARK Camera was manufactured by the Daydark Specialty Company of St. Louis Mo. in circa 1907. Model B-W was a professional street camera capable of making full standard Black and White photo postcard pictures on tin or directly on various post card stock sizes including 1 3/4 x 2 1/2, 2 1/2 x 3 1/2, 3 x 4 1/2 or 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 inches. The camera was well made with the camera box made of well seasoned basswood covered with heavy and durable seal grain Keratol covering. It was fitted with a leather bellows, a solid leather carrying handle and the hardware was made from brass that was heavy plated with nickel. A door on the top of the camera opens to a ruby window so that you can see the inside of the box while working. It featured an instantaneous shutter with adjustable shutter and a wire release cord. An extra rapid rectilinear lens, focusing scale and a folding brilliant direct view finder are included.
The operation included aligning the subject, taking a snap shot and then inserting your hand into the camera to move the exposed image to a tank of developing solution. Within approximately 1 minute the photograph would be developed, and can be taken out, rinsed and provided to the customer. The camera originally sold for $43.00. Tripod, cards and photographic solutions were extra.
