The Model D-2, Plateless, DAYDARK Camera was manufactured by the Daydark Specialty Company of St. Louis Mo. in circa 1910. Model D-2 was an inexpensive street camera capable of imprinting directly on two card sizes 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 and 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and on 1 inch photo buttons. The D-2 featured the latest improved adjustable focus and extra quick rectilinear lens called the Blitzen. It was mounted in instantaneous shutter with a wire push cord release or bulb and tube release. The lens is adjusted by pointing to a number that represents the focus distance to the camera for photos from 5 to 100 feet. The Blitzen was exclusive to daydark. The camera box was made of basswood covered with durable black seal grain Keratol. It included a solid leather carrying handle and the hardware was made from nickel plated. It measured 7 x 8 x 10 inches and weighed only 6 pounds. The camera originally sold for $25.00. The tripod, cards and photographic solutions were extra.
