Krugener's Book Camera, also referred to in German as the Taschenbuck (pocket book) Camera, was sold through Marion & Co. in London in circa 1889. It was patented and designed by Dr. Krugener of Bockenheim, Germany (near Frankfort ). This detective camera was disguised as a leather bound book that would hold a supply of twenty-four dry plates, which could be exposed without opening the camera. This camera captured square images 40mm x 40mm in size. It was fitted with an achromatic Voigtlander lens and a guillotine shutter froviding time and instantaneous exposures. The photographer was intended to carry the camera under their arm and the lens can either be pointed in front or toward the rear.
