The Oxford camera was manufactured by Marion & Company of Soho Square, London in circa 1885. The camera was constructed of mahogany with a square leather bellows. It was designed to take cabinet sized photographs 6 1/2 x 4 3/4 inches in size, suitable for portraits or landscape views. The advertisement describes the folding board of the camera is made rigid by turning the brass bars at its side round into the side of the camera base. Teh camera, lens and dryplates, chemicals lamp and trays, etc. were priced at £5. An optional upgraded lens is only described as a superior lens for taking portraits priced at £3 5s.
