The J.P. Special Hand Camera was manufactured by J.P. Piggott of London, England in circa 1900. This magazine camera was capable of carrying twelve quarter-plates. Constructed of wood and covered in hard grain morocco leather. Features included a time and instantaneous shutter, two view finders, a best quality Achromatic view lens, focussers for 1, 2 and three yards and an indicator for recording exposed plates. The J.P. Special Hand Camera was originally priced at 42 shillings. If fitted with a rapid rectilinear lens the price was 66 shillings and if it also included a focusing adjustment the price ws 88 shillings.
