  Sunflower Multiplying Camera

The Sunflower Multiplying Camera was manufactured and sold by Jas. H. Smith & Company in circa 1901. The camera was designed by Jacob F. Standiford of Fort Scott, Kansas and patented on February 26, 1901 with US Patent No. 668,888. Described as the latest invention that is positively unequaled. I was capable of capturing 6, 8, 12, 18, 24 or 36 small negatives of as many different subjects on one 5 x 7 inch plate. It was a simple design and easy to use. It featured an automatic lens shutter, where sliding the back to the right brings the ground glass into position for focusing and opens the shutter, while the revers movement of the back brings the plate holder into position and automatically closes the shutter. It was fitted with a quick acting double lens. Originally priced at $30.00 in 1903.
