The firm of Herbst & Firl was established in Goerlitz, Germany in 1878. Ernst Herbst & Heinrich Firl produced high quality cameras and products. In 1899 Ernemann took over the firm and continued it as a department until 1919. During this time the Herbst & Firl department of Ernemann produced the globus camera series.
