The Ansco Karomat was sold by Ansco of Binghamton, New York in circa 1951 to 1956. It was manufactured for Ansco by Agfa of Munchen, Germany. It was a high quality rangefinder camera constructed with a metal body covered in black leather and the exposed metal parts chrome. Early models were fitted with a Heligon or Xenon lens in a compur-rapid shutter. Later models had a Schneider Xenar f2 50mm and a Synchro-Compur flash shutter with nine speeds ranging from 1 to 1/500 of a second, plus bulb. Other features included a built-in optical viewfinder combined with a split image rangefinder, a rapid feeding level advances film and cocks shutter for rapid sequence shots, depth of field scale, and double exposure preventions. The Ansco Karomat was originally priced at $164.10.
