The Ansco Memar was manufactured by the Agfa company of Munich for Ansco of Binghamton, New York from approximately 1954 to 1958. Designed as an inexpensive 35mm camera with many quality features. The camera body was made of die-cast metal and covered in black leather. The exposed metal parts were finished in satin chrome. It was fitted with an f3.5 Agfa Apotar coated anastigmat lens mounted into a Pronto shutter providing four speeds from 1/25 to 1/200 of a second, plus bulb. Features included flash syncronization, an optical eye-level finder, thumb-lever film transport, and film type indicator. The Ansco Memar was originally priced at $39.50.
