  Ansco Pioneer


The Ansco Pioneer camera was manufactured by Ansco from approximately 1947 to 1953. It was a very popular snap shot camera for both in door and out door photography. The camera accepted a compact synchronized flash unit that plugs into the top of the camera. The camera is made out of plastic and metal. It featured an optical eye level view finder, an instantaneous and time shutter, and a fixed focus meniscus lens. Available in two sizes. The Ansco Pioneer model PB-20 Pioneer took eight exposures 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 inch on standard no. 620 roll film. It was priced at around $5.95. The Ansco Pioneer model PD-16 took exposures 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches on no. 616 roll film. It was priced around $6.55.
