  No. 1 Ansco

The "No. 1 Ansco" box camera was made by Ansco of Binghamton, New York in circa 1906 to 1913. A simple box camera for taking 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch square sized exposures on Ansco no. 8A six exposure or no. 8B twelve exposure roll film or equivalent Kodak No. 101 roll film. It was fitted with a fixed focus meniscus Achromatic lens and a time and instantaneous shutter with three different diaphragm openings. It offered a single brilliant style view finder, noiseless key winding, tripod socket and carrying handle. Finished in nickel plated and polished metal and seal grain covering. Early models of this camera measured 4 3/8 x 4 3/4 x 5 1/2 inches and weighed 19 ounces and later models c1910 measured 4 1/2 x 5 x 6 and weighed 20 ounces. The "No. 1 Ansco" box camera was originally priced $5.00.
