  No. 1 Buster Brown

The No. 1 Buster Brown box camera was manufactured by the Anthony and Scovill company and then by Ansco in circa 1905. It was boldly stated in advertisements that "This camera is not a toy", although designed for the wants of boys and girls and marketed with cartoon like packaging to appeal to a young photographer. The camera was fitted with a fine quality meniscus fixed focus lens and a time and snap-shot shutter. It was capable of capturing six 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 inch exposures. The No. 1 Buster Brown box camera was originally priced at $1.00.
