The No. 1A Ansco Speedex camera was made by Ansco of Binghamton, New York in circa 1914 to approximately 1926.
The camera was made of Aluminum and covered in Perisian morocco leather. The camera was capable of capturing 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch negatives on Ansco No. 6A or 6B speedex film or on kodak no. 116 film. The camera was fitted with a fine Ansco Anastigmat f6.3 lens. Prior to 1916 It was mounted in a Optimo shutter with a maximum speed of 1/300th part of a second and later models were mounted in a Speedex or Ilex Acme shutter capable of speeds up to 1/300th part of a second. The camera measured 1 7/8 x 4 x 8 1/8 and weighed 30 ounces. The No. 1A Ansco Speedex camera was priced at $45.00.
