  No. 1A folding Ansco

No. 1A folding Ansco camera was made by Ansco of Binghamton, New York in circa 1914 to approximately 1926. This was the first model in a series made with a round-cornered aluminum body. It was covered in Perisian morocco leather. The camera was capable of capturing 2 1/2 x 4 1/4 inch negatives on Ansco No. 6A or 6B speedex film or on kodak no. 116 film. The camera was fitted with a Modico Anastigmat f7.5 lens. Various shutter options were available to the purchaser including a Bionic shutter, a Capax shutter, an Ilex General shutter or a Ilex universal shutter. The Ilex shutters were not available on the early models. Early models measured 1 3/4 x 3 7/8 x 8 1/8 and weighed 29 ounces and later models after 1916 measured 1 7/8 x 4 x 8 1/8 and weighed 20 ounces. The No. 1A Ansco Speedex camera was originally priced from $15.00 to $17.50 depending on the shutter selection. However the priced steadily increased over the years and was selling between $23.00 and 28.50 in 1920.
