  No. 3 & No. 3A Ansco Speedex

The No. 3 & No. 3A Ansco Speedex camera were manufactured by Ansco in circa 1914 to 1930. The Ansco Speedex cameras were introduced as a deluxe addition to the the round-corned aluminum series. They were similar to the regular No. 3 and No. 3A Folding Ansco. The design was intended for extra high speed work. It was equipped with a Ansco Anastigmat f6.3 lens with a focal length of 6 1/2 inches mounted in an accurate Optimo shutter providing speeds up to 1/300th part of a second.The camera was covered in Persian morocco leather with rich black leather bellows. The front provided rise, fall and slide adjustments. The cameras could take film packs or glass dry plates by the addition of a combination back or attachment.

The No. 3 Ansco Speedex took 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch negatives on Ansco no. 7A and 7B film or no. 118 Kodak film. It measured 1 3/4 x 4 1/2 x 8 1/8 and weighed 30 ounces. It was originally priced at $47.50.

The No. 3A Ansco Speedex took 3 1/4 x 5 1/2 inch negatives on Ansco no. 18A and 18B film or no. 122 Kodak film. It measured 2 x 4 3/4 x 9 1/2 and weighed 40 ounces. It was priced around $55.00.
