  No. 5 Folding Pocket Ansco


The No. 5 Folding Pocket Ansco camera was manufactured by Ansco in circa 1908. It was the same as the The No. 4 Folding Pocket Ansco camera except it took larger 4 x 5 inch negatives. The camera was made of well seasoned mahogany wood polished and covered in black seal grain leather. The metal parts are heavily nickel plated and polished. It was fitted with a rapid rectilinear lens and the Winner Automatic shutter. An upgraded version was sold with a Goerz Anastigmat series III lens. Other features included a brilliant reversible finder, an automatic spring spoon which is part of the spool-handling device, and two tripod sockets. The camera was capable of capturing six or twelve 4 x 5 inch exposures on Ansco no. 10A and 10B film or equivalent Kodak no. 103 roll film. The camera measures 2 x 5 1/8 x 8 3/4 inches and weighes 31 ounces. The No. 5 Folding Pocket Ansco camera was originally priced around $18.50. The cost for the camera with the upgraded Goerz lens was $67.50.
