The Contaflex Super was manufactured by Zeiss Ikon AG of Dresden, Germany from 1959 to 1962. It was a 35mm single lens reflex camera featuring a lens diaphragm coupled to a photo-electric exposure meter that could be seen in the view finder. The camera was constructed of metal covered in leather. Speed lever winds film, cocks shutter and advances exposure counter. An exposure control dial located on the front of the camera allowed for quick adjustments for light conditions. Fitted with a Zeiss Tessar f 2.8 50mm coated lens and able to take supplementary lens including a 400mm monocular. the shutter was a synchro-compur MXV shutter providing speeds up to 1/500th part of a second, including self-timer. The Contaflex Super, Zeiss number 10.1271, was priced at $199.
