The Balda CE 35 was manufactured by Balda Photographic Equipment Manufacture Ltd., China, a "China-Germany joint venture" in circa 1983. The camera was made of plastic with a simulated leather pattern molded into the plastic to resemble a traditional leather camera. It was fitted a coated f2.8 38mm Baldanon lens (Tessar-type). The shutter provided speeds from f2.8-1 second to f-16 -1/500th part of a second. It featured auto-exposure with a 2x back-light exposure compensation switch located on the top, a bright line finder with distance symbols, and a detachable flash - CF18. The camera measures 103 x 62 x 32mm and weighs 147g.
