The Balda Automatic 344 camera was manufactured by the Balda Werk company in circa 1970. It was a simple inexpensive camera constructed of plastic. Two versions were made, the 144 and the 144-x. The 144 accepted flashcubes and the 144-x was designed to accept the magicube flash bulb. The camera took 28 x 28mm size negatives on standard 126 cartridge film. It was fitted with a fixed focus lens and single speed instantaneous shutter proving approximately 1/60 of a second speed. It featured a selenium cell that automatically set the aperture between 11 and 22.
