The original Periflex camera was manufactured by K. G. Corfield Ltd in circa 1953. This first version was constructed of metal with the top and bottom black anodized and body covered with a brown pig-skin. Designed with a unique periscope viewfinder that focused through the taking lens. This 35mm camera was fitted with a Lumar f3.5 50mm lens in an aluminum housing. The camera featured a fast focal plane shutter providing speeds of 1/30th to 1/1000th of a second plus bulb. It is recorded that only a few hundred were produced.
