The Horsman Dolls Company Inc. was founded in 1865 by Edward Imeson Horsman, who began by importing dolls. Soon after the founding, Horsman produced its own bisque dolls. The E.I Horsman Company was later redefined as a game, toy and sporting goods store known for selling bicycles. The company was located in lower Manhattan at 80 and 82 William St, then 367 Broadway, then in 1900 at 380-382 Broadway, New York City, New York and described itself as a importer, exporter and manufacturer. Horsman offered a few cameras and outfits to meet the need for the amateur photography demand that grew in the late 1880 and 1890s.
