"The British" box camera was manufactured by J.T. Chapman in circa 1900. A detective style camera incorporating a magazine mechanism. "The British" box camera featured a detective style pop up window to conceal the lens when not in use making it look like an ordinary wood box. It was constructed of polished wood with brass fittings and a leather handle. The camera accepted quarter. Found fitted with a Wray rapid rectilinear f8 lens with wheel stops and a Thornton Pickard snapshot shutter.
