  APM Focal Plane Camera

The APM Focal Plane camera was manufactured by Amalgamated Photographic Materials Co. in circa 1924. A compact light weight camera with a strut folding bellows and a focal plane shutter designed for glass plate use. The camera body was constructed of seasoned mahogany wood with the corners strenghtened with metal binding, covered in fine morocco-grained leather, red leather bellows, ebonized mahogany front and stout nickel-plated struts. The shutter provided speeds ranging from 1/16th to 1/800 of a second. Made in two sizes. Model A was for 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch exposures. fitted with an APeM Anastigmat f4.5 lens in an engraved focusing mount. Model B was for 3 1/4 x 4 1/4 inch exposures on metal slides. Model be was the same camera but with double block form backs.
