  Univex Minicam Model AF-5 Camera

The Univex Model AF-5 camera was manufactured by Universal Camera Corporation in circa 1938. The final model in the series breaks from the other models with the new name Minicam and oriented horizontally for landscape. It was constructed of die-cast metal with an antique bronzed colored face plate. The camera took six 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 inch exposures on no. 00 Univex easy-load Ultrachrome $0.10 roll film or the Panchromatic Ultrapan roll film costing $0.15. Fitted with a fixed focus Ilex Achromar 60mm precision lens and a 1/50th of a second instantaneous and time shutter. Other features included a direct view wire finder and eye level spyglass finder that allowed the camera to be used for landscape of portrait photography, An oversize winding knob, hand polished lenses, self-opening, and a rigid extension mechanism. The original price was $3.50, the most expensive of the series. Sold in a red and gold gift box.
