The Universal Vitar was manufactured by the Universal Camera Corporation in circa 1951. It was a 35mm full-frame camera constructed of plastic and similar to the Buccaneer camera. It was only available for a short period of time due to financial troubles of the company. It accepted 35mm cartridge film capable of capturing thirty-six 1 x 1 1/2 inch exposures. It was fitted with a 50mm coated Tricor Anastigmat triplet f3.5 lens and a shutter providing speeds from 1/25 to 1/200th of a second plus time and bulb. It featured a buit-in Chronomatic flash synchronization, exposure counter, exposure guide and built-in extinction-type exposure meter. Originally priced at $41.
