The Stereo Le Physiographe was manufactured by Leon Bloch in circa 1896. The camera was disguised as an ordinary binocular. This spy or detective camera early models were capable of capturing twelve images on two 5 x 12 cm glass plates and later models captured images on 45 x 107mm and 52 x 118mm plates. Fitted with two extra bright lenses by Balbreck. it took images 90 degrees to the side of the photographer facing front. Watson and sons of England sold the camera with their mark calling it Watson's Stereo Binocular. Described as "easy to handle, easy and quick, interchangeable in broad daylight. With the physiographer one can surprise, even two meters away and without appearing indiscreet, all the scenes that they are and portraicture without their suspecting it the most rebellious people to be photographed, result that it is materially impossible to obtain with no other apparatus. all affecting a form and requiring handling which infallibly reveal its nature."
