The Photosphere camera was manufactured by Compagnie Francaise De Photographie, located at 7 Rue de Solferino, Paris in circa 1889 to 1902. Constructed of all metal silvered brass body with wooden sides. Fitted with a rapid rectilinear lens with an iris diaphragm. The shutter is a hemispherical sector with variable speeds. It takes 9 x 12 cm glass plates held in double dark-slides. Features a top mounted detachable view finder. Made in several sizes beginning with the original 8 x 9 cm, then in approximately 1893 introduced 9 x 12 cm, 13 x 18 cm and 9 x 18 cm sizes.
