The Amerex hit-type camera was manufactured in Japan from an unknown manufacturer in circa 1945-1952. It was an inexpensive novelty camera that was constructed of molded pot-metal with leatherette covering. It has a metal face-plate imprinted with the name Amerex with two decorative lines on each side and the phrase "MADE IN OCCUPIED JAPAN" on the bottom. It took 14×14mm exposures on narrow paper-backed 17.5mm film. The miniature camera was fitted with a fixed focus lens and an simple instantaneous shutter.
