  Astra Hit-type Sub-miniature Camera

The Astra hit-type camera was manufactured in Japan from an unknown manufacturer in circa 1952. It was an inexpensive novelty camera that was constructed of molded pot-metal with leatherette covering. It has a metal face-plate imprinted with the name Astra with three stars on each side and the phrase "MADE IN JAPAN" on the bottom, dating the camera into the fifties. It took 14×14mm exposures on narrow paper-backed 17.5mm film. The miniature camera was fitted with a fixed focus lens and an simple instantaneous shutter.
