The Hit Camera was manufactured by the Tougodo company based in Toyohashi, Japan in circa 1946. A gold tone metal version was available in the 1950s. Like the silver metal version the gold was constructed of an inexpensive pot-metal with leatherette covering. The camera was made with a silver metal face-plate with the name HIT imprinted in black on the top, with three stars on each side and "MADE IN JAPAN" printed on the bottom. The camera took 14×14mm exposures on narrow paper-backed 17.5mm film. The camera was fitted with a fixed focus lens and a simple instantaneous shutter.
