The Hinton Stand & Hand Camera was marketed by the Hinton & Co. of 38 Beford St, Strand W.C. in circa 1893. This unique half-plate camera was constructed of the best seasoned mahogany, screwed, glued and angle jointed throughout. It was covered in the best and hardest morocco leather. It featured an enclosed focusing rack and screen with a sliding magnifier for accurate focusing (patented) in the rear of the camera protected by hinged doors. The camera was fitted with long and short focus lens mounted in black aluminum Newman & Guardia blind shutter. The camera measured 9 1/2 x 9 x 6 inches and weights six pounds with one double back plate holder installed. It was priced at £20. An additional model with sliding front and swing back was available for £24.
