Postby tom » Sat Jun 23, 2012 10:58 am

A recent photography purchase. Is this guy too cool or what?

Sir David Baird (1832-1913) was the 3rd baronet of Newbyth in the County of Haddington, by inheritance. He has a rich ancestral legacy. He was the son of Sir David Baird of Newbyth, 2nd Baronet (1796-1852) who was a nephew of the celebrated Sir David Baird, 1st Baronet (1757 – 1829). Baird, 2nd Baronet received his baronet due to the 1st Baronet having a distinguished military career affording him honors of the parliament but, was childless. Sir David Baird, 2nd Baronet had ancestry to the Baronets of 1660 and succeeded his uncle.

Sir David Baird II was a captain in the British army and founding member of North Berwick Golf Club in 1832. He was also Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club in 1843.

Sir David Baird III was a keen golfer at North Berwick and like is father he became Captain of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club. He married Lady Anne Kennedy, daughter of Sir Archibald Kennedy, 1st Marquess of Ailsa and Margaret Erskine. Together they had ten children.

This is an early image measuring only 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches and the date is estimated at approximately c1857.
