W. Watson & Sons, London was founded in 1837.

In the 1870s the company was located at 318 High Holborn, London and began manufacturing high quality photographic equipment. They became one of the country's leading manufacturers. They were known for their detailed wood working of view, field and detective cameras.

In 1900 the company acquired the John Browning & Co.

In 1908 the firm became Watson, W. & Son Ltd., London and was active until 1956.
