The Buckeye No. 1 box camera was manufactured by the American Camera Manufacturing Company of Rochester, New York in circa 1898. It was well made box hand camera featuring compactness and portability. A cartridge roll film is carried in a mechanism between the lens and the plane of focus , thus shortening the length considerably. The film was daylight loadable. It was fitted with a universal focus Achromatic lens and a simple instantaneous and time shutter. The No. 1 is 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 inch and No. 2 is 4 x 5 inch. Both were made for roll film use only. It was priced in 1898 at $8.00 for the smaller sized camera and $12.0 for the 4x5 camera.
