The Detrola Model HW was manufactured by the Detrola Corporation in Detroit, Michigan in circa 1939. The "W" in the model number stood for Wollensak. The Model HW was the same as the Model H, except that it was fitted with a Wollensak Velostigmat f4.5 lens corrected for color photography.
This camera was constructed of bakelite plastic with a built-in optical view finder and extinction meter. All exposed metal parts were chromium plated. The camera was capable of capturing sixteen exposures on standard 8 exposure no. 127 roll film for taking 1 5/8 inch by 1 3/16 inch negatives. The shutter provided instantaneous speeds from 1/25 to 1/200th of a second, including time and bulb.
