  The Fallowfield Camera

The Fallowfield camera was introduced by Jonathan Fallowfield in circa 1892. Like the popular Facile hand Camera, Mr. Miall invented this combination hand or stand camera after experimenting with a variety of mechanical automatic shutters. The Fallowfield camera was capable of being focused from three feet to infinity and focusing was accomplished by a graduated scale or direct observation on a ground glass the size of the plate. The lens iris diaphragm is controlled from the outside and the shutter is controlled by a brake which enables exposure speeds from two seconds to 1/100th of a second. The option of time exposure was also available. A unique magazine changing system provides for a dozen plates which can be removed and replaced in full daylight. The illustration shows the camera being carried and also a view of the bottom, which has the cameras controls. .
